League One Transfer Round Up: 2nd – 8th August

Sheffield Wednesday were the team of the week in the transfer market, signing two on undisclosed fees (George Byers from Swansea & Lee Gregory from Stoke), two on loan (Theo Corbeanu from Wolverhampton Wanderers & Lewis Gibson from Everton), and one on a free transfer (Marvin Johnson from Middlesbrough). Wednesday now have six loanees on their books so one will be unable to include all of them in their matchday squad.

Rotherham signed three, securing two on undisclosed fees (Hakeem Odoffin from Hamilton Academical and Ollie Rathbone from Rochdale), and one on loan (Rarmani Edmonds-Green from Huddersfield).

Elsewhere, Wigan secured their first paid transfer in Jordan Jones from Rangers whilst Cambridge resigned former loanee Jubril Okedina on a permanent deal. Bolton also signed ex-Premier League striker Elias Kachunga on a free transfer from Sheffield Wednesday.

Generally, the free transfer market was busier than in previous weeks with Accrington Stanley (Jack Nolan from Walsall), Cambridge United (Will Mannion from Pafos), Doncaster Rovers (Dan Gardner from Wigan), Fleetwood Town (Darnell Johnson from Leicester City), Ipswich Town (Sone Aluko from Reading), Portsmouth (Connor Ogilvie from Gillingham), and Wycombe Wanderers (Tjay De Barr from Lincoln Red Imps) all making signings.

Premier League loans were popular this week as Louie Berry, an ex-Barcelona and West Brom youngster, joined Ipswich Town on loan from Aston Villa. Watford sent youngsters Dapo Mebude and Pontus Dahlberg on loan to AFC Wimbledon and Doncaster Rovers respectively while Leicester City sent Callum Wright and George Hirst on loan to Cheltenham Town and Portsmouth. Finally, Cheltenham Town secured Taylor Perry on loan from Wolves.

There were only two outgoings from League One squads this week as Julian Börner left Sheffield Wednesday for Hannover 96 on an undisclosed fee and Joel Coleman had his Fleetwood Town contract mutually terminated, allowing him to join Rochdale.
