Charlie Kirk made his long-awaited move to Charlton this week on an undisclosed fee from Crewe Alexandra. The Addicks had reportedly been close to signing him in January but the move fell through late on, resulting in the club signing Diallang Jaiyesimi instead.

Elsewhere, it was a week dominated by the larger clubs in League One as Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham, Portsmouth, Sunderland, and Wigan all added to their squads. Ipswich signed three, Hayden Coulson joined on loan from Middlesbrough and Cameron Burgess on an undisclosed fee from Accrington, while Kyle Edwards’ move to the club from West Brom was the 200th transfer in League One this summer. Portsmouth secured two new players in Louis Thompson (free transfer) and Joe Morrell (undisclosed fee) from Norwich and Luton respectively. Sunderland continued their focus on young players with Premier League pedigree, bringing in Frederik Alves on loan from West Ham and Dennis Cirkin on an undisclosed fee from Tottenham. Rotherham followed with the signing of Arsenal left back Tolaji Bola on an undisclosed fee, as did Wigan who signed Newcastle centre back Kelland Watts on a season-long loan. Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday secured winger Sylla Sow on a free transfer from Dutch side RKC Waalwijk.

Lower down the table, Morecambe made signings 16 and 17 of the window with the free transfer signings of Scott Wootton and Shayon Harrison from Plymouth Argyle and AFC Wimbledon respectively. Time will tell if the players manage to gel in time for the coming season. Meanwhile, Kyle Vassell joined Cheltenham from Fleetwood, Terrell Thomas joined Crewe on a free from Wimbedon, Doncaster secured Ethan Galbraith on loan from Manchester United, and Shrewsbury Town signed 6ft 4 striker Sam Cosgrove on loan from Birmingham.
