Rotherham seem to be putting faith in their current squad to deliver an immediate return to the Championship as Josh Chapman is the club’s first signing since suffering relegation. Chapman, an 18-year-old goalkeeper, joins on a free after his contract expired at Sheffield United. However, this strategy may depend on Matt Crooks as the midfielder is reportedly a transfer target for Ipswich Town and several Championship clubs. If he is sold, then a replacement for the 27-year-old will be urgently needed.

Elsewhere, Ipswich continued their busy window with the double signing of Joe Pigott and Scott Fraser from AFC Wimbledon and MK Dons respectively. Both had excellent seasons in League One last season and it is a surprise that no Championship clubs came in for them.
Wycombe strengthened their squad with signings two and three of the summer, winger Sullay Kaikai signed on a free from Blackpool and young keeper Adam Przybek joined after his release by Ipswich. Sunderland also brought in two, Corry Evans on a free from Blackburn and 17-year-old centre back Callum Doyle on loan from Man City.

Morecambe brought their total summer incomings up to 12 with the signings of Shane McLoughlin (AFC Wimbledon) and Jacob Mensah (Weymouth).
Finally, Aaron Pressley, Jensen Weir, and Dan Nlundulu, joined AFC Wimbledon, Cambridge United, and Lincoln City on loan whilst Anthony Pilkington, Aden Baldwin, and Jaden Brown joined Fleetwood Town, MK Dons, and Sheffield Wednesday on permanent deals.
